“Roux-en-Y entero-enteric anastomosis of the small bowel i

“Roux-en-Y entero-enteric anastomosis of the small bowel is a commonly used surgical technique. However, it excludes the afferent limb and the biliopancreatic system from conventional endoscopic access. Recent data have shown that device-assisted enteroscopy (DAE) allows endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in these patients with high success rates. Both Double-balloon, short Double-balloon, Single-balloon and Spiral enteroscopy can be used

for DAE-ERCP with comparable success. This review highlights the currently available literature data on DAE-ERCP in patients with Roux-en-Y anastomosis, and SB-715992 discusses the clinical aspects and technical difficulties. Although DAE does increase ERCP efficacy in patients with Roux-en-Y anastomosis, it remains a challenging procedure which is open to further improvement. (C) 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.”
“Near-infrared (NIR) transmittance spectroscopy combined with least-squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) was investigated to study the quality change of tomato juice during the storage. A total of 100 tomato juice samples were used. The spectrum of each tomato juice was collected twice: the first measurement was taken when the tomato juice was fresh and had not

undergone any changes, and the second measurement was taken see more after a month. Principal component analysis (PCA) was used to examine a potential capability of separating juice before and after the storage. The soluble solid content (SSC) and pH of the juice samples were determined. The results show that changes in certain compounds between tomato juice before and after the storage period were obvious. An excellent precision was achieved by LS-SVM

model compared with discriminant partial least-squares (DPLS), soft independent modeling of class analogy (SIMCA), and discriminant analysis (DA) models, with 100% of a total accuracy. It can be found that NIR spectroscopy coupled with LS-SVM, DPLS, SIMCA, and DA can be used to control BV-6 concentration the quality change of tomato juice during the storage.”
“Aims: The treatment of patients with synchronous bilateral breast cancer is a challenge. We present a report of dosimetric data of patients with bilateral chest walls as the target treated with electron arc therapy.

Materials and methods: Ten consecutive patients who had undergone electron arc therapy to the bilateral chest wall for breast cancer were analysed. After positioning and immobilisation, patients underwent computed tomography scans from the neck to the upper abdomen. Electron arc plans were generated using the PLATO RTS (V1.8.2 Nucletron) treatment planning system. Electron energy was chosen depending upon the depth and thickness of the planning target volume (PTV). For all patients, the arc angle ranged between 80 and 280 (start angle 80, stop angle 280).
