study comparing ProDisc-L with circumferential lumbar arthrodesis were evaluated before surgery and at 24 months. Radiographic measurements were performed independently using custom digitized image stabilization software to generate ROM at the operative level, and at each cranial and caudal adjacent level.

Results. There were 200 total patients included (155 ProDisc-L, average age 39 years; 45 arthrodesis, average age 40 years). At 24 months, the L4/5 TDR group experienced a significant improvement in total lumbar ROM from Screening Library baseline (+6.3 degrees), whereas there was no change seen with L5/S1 TDR or any fusion group. From 20082010, 499 clinical samples were obtained from 497 people. S. aureus was identified in 274 samples, and 36% (99 of 274) were methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA). Seventeen (6.2%) PVL-positive S. aureus strains were detected by PCR, and 12 of the 17 PVL-positive strains were MRSA. Most PVL-positive S. aureus caused

furuncles or carbuncles. Nine of the 17 PVL-positive isolates had an ST8 MRSA genotype VX-680 inhibitor and most harbored SCCmec type IVa and the arcA gene of the arginine catabolic mobile element, which is identical to the USA300 clone prevalent in the USA. PVL-positive S. aureus strains were more likely to be resistant to erythromycin (65%) and levofloxacin (53%). “Background and aims: Biological therapy with anti TNF agents requires parenteral administration and in the case of infliximab this involves in hospital treatment. We aimed to prospectively assess the safety and tolerance of infliximab infusion in patients with IBD in a specialized unit adhering to strict standard operation procedures including switch to accelerated 1 h infusions.

Methods: A prospective audit of a referral center IBD infusion unit was performed. We recorded infusion times and all adverse events including hypersensitivity reactions.
